We bring our data center in Lupfig and R\u00fcmlang<\/a> even closer together and launched new multi-site features for Virtual Datacenter<\/a> (VDC), which allow georedundant and multi-site configurations. Both data centers are transparently connected to each other in VDC so that you can move VMs back and forth between both locations easily without having to adjust the network configuration. Disaster recovery scenarios are also straightforward to implement and you can further increase the availability of your services. For more information on the features, please see below or contact your sales representative.<\/p>\n

Paired VDCs with two Egress Points<\/h2>\n

Pairing your VDCs in Lupfig and R\u00fcmlang allows you to crosswise use the egress points to the Internet<\/strong> from both locations. If, for example, the multi-redundant Internet connection in R\u00fcmlang fails to operate correctly, your systems in R\u00fcmlang will automatically communicate via the Internet connection in Lupfig. Communication between the two data centres is ensured by 3 dedicated and physically separated fibre optic cables. This ensures that your systems remain available at both locations.<\/p>\n

L2 Stretched Networks<\/h2>\n

Pairing both VDCs furthermore allows the configuration of Stretched Networks<\/strong>. These are VDC-spanning internal Layer-2 networks, so VMs in both VDCs work with the same IP configuration. Previously, separate networks with separate subnets had to be set up in both VDCs and then to be connected via VPN. Stretched networks provide more flexibility in architecture design, eliminate VPN traffic overhead, and pave the way for VDC-independent VMs.<\/p>\n

The vCloud Availability Extension extends VDC with effective features for Onboarding<\/strong>, Migration<\/strong> and Disaster Recovery<\/strong> of VMs between our two datacenters and from\/to your on-premises VMware environment. All environments can be managed centrally via a portal, the vCloud Director, and workloads can be flexibly moved back and forth between the different clouds. Thanks to stretched networks, it is not even necessary to adjust the IP configuration.<\/p>\n
